May 2014
Ten members were present for the AGM which occupied the first part of the evening. Before the start of the proceedings, a minute’s silence was observed for our late president and long standing member, Horace Hodgson.
Apologies were received from Ray Scott for his absence and all motions were passed and the committee re-elected for another year.
In his report, our chairman Steven thanked Hilary for looking after the finances and preparing the financial statement. He then thanked Ray for his hard work in putting together another season’s meeting programme and Glyn for the Humber Light publishing. Steven then went on to make some comments on the future for the branch in regards to membership numbers and finances. Steven concluded his report by outlining the plan for the anniversary dinner in July.
Ray, our secretary, in his written notes, advised the members that the meeting programme for the season was now complete.
Our treasurer Hilary started by apologising for the lack of comparison figures on the financial statement, but commented that speaker fees were up in comparison to the previous year. Branch membership would remain at £8 per year.
In his report, Glyn advised that it had been another quite successful year for the branch journal, Humber Light, which in the main was published on time, each quarter and he hoped that the membership were happy with the publication. He continued to add that getting articles regularly, for publishing in the journal, was still a headache and thanked those who had forwarded material over the past year, both written articles and photos, members and non-members alike. He also thanked Sharon, who prints the journal, for the high standard through the year. Glyn concluded by adding that five members were now taking the electronic version of Humber Light in place of the printed version.
In ‘Any Other Business’, Patrick took the opportunity of advising every one of the KGD open day in June and the special P&O Ferries trips in September.
The AGM concluded at 2003.
Following the AGM, the digital projector was set up and we were treated to a selection of images old and new that members had brought along on portable data storage devices.

June 2014
A disappointingly low number of members were present, to hear and see a presentation on the port of Hamburg, given by Jim Charnock. Jim brought along a selection of slides taken on his many visits to the port in the past decade and showed the type of ships currently seen on the river and some of Jim's favourite spots along the Elbe to view and photograph them. Jim also gave advice on the best means of transport to get about. A very useful presentation for anyone (such as myself) who has spent little or no time in the city. Thanks to Jim for making the journey across the Pennines to give us the presentation.

August 2014
In August we had another visit from Roy Cressey, on this occasion bringing along a digital presentation entitled ‘This and That – Simply the Best’. The presentation consisted of a wide ranging selection of high quality digital images that had been entered over the past few years for the Yorkshire Ship Enthusiasts Elco Cup competition or had been submitted to Roy for possible inclusion in the group’s calendar. A couple of our members had some of their work included in the presentation. Thanks to Roy for making the journey to visit us again, in the process having to endure rail replacement buses on part of his journey one way and for the entire journey on return.

September 2014
For the September meeting we welcomed back Jim Charnock, for his second visit of the season. This time Jim brought along a selection of slides that he had recently acquired from a friend and as a result he had been unable to research all the ships included in the presentation. So some audience participation was involved with attempted identification and also location of some of the shots, many of which, however, had been taken on the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes. Sadly time ran out before Jim had managed to get through all the slides that he had brought along. Thanks again to Jim for taking the time to visit us with another presentation.

October 2014
Our Annual Photo Competition was the night's meeting subject, with a very disappointingly low attendance. This meeting normally attracts a good attendance but this time it was probably the lowest that I had seen over the years. However the entries that members had selected for the competition, this year, were of a consistent high standard and gave our judge, Roy Cressey, some problems in selecting the winners. We started with the slides, where Simon Smith was the winner with a shot of HELIOPOLIS SKY on the New Waterway. Simon also gained second place and Steven Tacey third. In the digital section Simon was the winner again with a shot of METHANIA at Gibraltar, Glyn Woods was second and Patrick Hill third. Finally the prints competition where Steven came first with a shot of BRUARFOSS at Immingham and Simon was second and third. Dave Wise was unlucky to miss out on a place in the digital section winners, but that was just a reflection of the high standard this year.
